It is with deep reget that we announce the sudden death of Br Kevin Ruane of the Kingston community, Galway, Ireland. He had just turned 84.

Last Monday Br Kevin had a fall while visiting Galway town resulting in a serious knock to his head. He returned home to the monastery but on Tuesday he had to be taken to hospital with bleeding on the brain. He died 6pm Saturday night.

Kevin (Michael) Ruane was a Country Mayo boy. He was born to Owen and Mary, the second youngest of eleven children.

He first attended the Bonniconlon National School and then in 1947 arrived at the Patrician training college in Tullow. In 1950 he made his First Profession on the 15th August.

For forty-four years he ministered in the primary school classrooms of Mallow, Newbridge, and Galway, as teacher and principal. He retired in 1994.

Kevin will always be remembered for his faithfulness to his religious life, his diligence, gentle intelligence, and his smile.

May his soul find its eternal rest and joy in the arms of our Saviour.

Bro. Kevin will repose in Kingston Monastery from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, December 5th followed by Prayers.

Removal to Sacred Heart Church, Seamus Quirke Road, Shantalla for 12 Noon Mass. Burial afterwards in Rahoon Cemetery, Galway.
